Our Philosophy: We strive to meet our Customer’s needs and accommodate the most challenging of requirements. This philosophy is the cornerstone of our business practices. At the same time, we must be diligent to maintain our focus on safety and reliability. Hence, these guidelines serve all of these goals.
I. Credit Policy
Sunoco Inc.’s Credit Department has the responsibility to administer credit policy, including:
- Extending a secured or unsecured credit line.
- Establishing payment terms and conditions.
Credit arrangements must have been made with a Credit Representative prior to shipment.
Sunoco Inc. is in compliance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Regulation B of the Code of the Federal Regulation which prohibits discrimination against a prospective buyer because of race, color, religion, national origin, marital status or age.
When FOB term is Ship Point, title and risk of loss, damage, destruction or deterioration of product transfer at Seller’s facility at the outlet flange of Seller’s permanent delivery equipment for bulk tank car or tank truck deliveries. When FOB term is destination, title and risk of loss, damage, destruction or deterioration of product transfer at Buyer’s facility upon constructive or actual placement of a rail tank car or at the outlet flange of a tank truck.
Customer Service should be contacted concerning any of these matters. Upon receipt of your order, any short shipments or errors must be indicated on the Bill of Lading and signed by the driver and submitted to the appropriate Customer Service Representative before the driver leaves the buyer’s site.
Prior to any product return, Customer Service MUST be contacted for approval. This includes full returns as well as partial loads. The facilities are not able to accept your return without the proper Customer Service approval. No credit will be issued for unauthorized returns and additional transportation charges may apply.
IV. Claims and Allowances
Claims and allowances concerning the quality or quantity of product will be allowed until title passes from the Seller to the Customer. Please refer to your contract for details.
Orders can be placed with Customer Service Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM EST. Official “Receipt” of an order will further be contingent upon credit approval. Please note that the lead time begins when the order is considered “Received”. Truck and Railcar orders will be accepted until 5PM ET on the day the order is received by Customer Service.
Sunoco, Inc. Customer Service is located in Philadelphia at:
Sunoco, Inc. Phone Number: 1-800-456-4786
1735 Market Street FAX Number: 1-215-977-6513
Philadelphia, PA 19103
Note: All contact concerning orders, including questions, changes and complaint reporting must be made directly to our Customer Service Department. Please do not contact terminal facilities directly.
A maximum of two products per order can be accommodated on one truck. To ensure product integrity, the minimum volume of a single product for a bulk order is 2,500 gallons.
Requests for loads containing both paraffinic and extract products on the same truck will only be accepted if the customer truck has a segregated loading and unloading system.
Every effort will be made to accommodate the specific quantities requested; however, availability of corresponding tank truck equipment will determine the actual volume shipped.
Important Note: Tulsa’s wax and extract loading facilities will only accommodate single and double compartment trailers.
B. Maximum and Minimum Bulk Load Limits
Orders must combine to make up a full truckload, a minimum of 6,000 gallons or the capacity of the truck, whichever is greater. (Extract minimum will be 5,500 gallons and waxes will be a minimum of 36,000 pounds.) Railcar orders must combine to make up approximately 98% of the car’s shell capacity.
For all locations, the maximum acceptable volume per truck is governed by Federal and State Highway Regulations and is limited to a vehicle and product combined gross weight of 80,000 pounds. Any exceptions to the 80,000-lb maximum gross weight must have documented proof of overweight permits for each state and must be provided prior to shipment. The maximum weight limit of product and railcar equipment will not exceed 263,000 lbs. unless a specific waiver is received by the Sunoco Transportation Dept. from the appropriate railroad involved in the shipment.
Minimum lead times following receipt of order (as described in “Order Placement” section above) are:
Trucks Railcars

Please note that specific requests for equipment beyond the Standard Equipment provided by the Seller-nominated carrier and/or product availability may increase the order lead-time. Please note that next day orders must compete for loading spot availability, therefore additional lead time is more conducive to receiving preferred loading times.
Emergency orders will be charged a minimum of $350.00 or Sunoco’s incurred costs, whichever is greater. This charge will be applied at the time of order placement and Customers will be made aware of the surcharge prior to order placement.
If a request is for a specific pick-up or shipping time, the facility will make every effort to meet the request. However, no specific time commitment is assured. The facility will then offer the first available slot within the above guidelines.
Requests to change the quantity of product(s) already on order will be handled based on the individual order in question. The Customer Service Representative will take all required information, confer with the facility and advise customer within two hours if the changes can be accepted.. If the change pertains to a Blend-to-Order product at Tulsa, which has already been blended, no changes will be accepted. If an order needs to be cancelled, please note that added costs directly related to the cancellation will be born by the Customer. The complete order will be subject to the full lead-time from the time the request is made.

Multiple-product loads
Availability of compartmentalized tank trucks that meet every customer's order quantity requirements is limited. Tank truck configuration for multiple product loads determines the actual volume delivered to the customer. The Seller will try to match load quantities with available equipment. Please refer to note under section A. above relative to Tulsa wax and extract rack loading capabilities.

5,500 to 6,500 Gallon (total volume subject to weight limitations)

23,500 or 25,500 or 26,500 gallon capacity (based on availability)
exterior steam coils
4" bottom outlet valve
2" or 3” top unloading liquid line
4" fiberglass insulation
All railcars must be single compartment center loading.
2. Customer-Nominated or Customer-Owned Tank Truck or Rail Car
These preferences can be accommodated, but to ensure safety and product quality, the following guidelines must be met:
· For Motor Carriers, a fully executed Facility Access Agreement (FAA) or Terminal Access Agreement (TAA) must be on file with the Seller prior to arrival at any Sunoco owned shipping facility (see list below for applicable facilities).
· Tulsa, OK: Facility Access Agreement (administered by Sunoco Transportation)
· Cleveland, OH: Terminal Access Agreement (administered by MLP)
· Nederland, TX: Terminal Access Agreement (administered by Nederland terminal)
· Loading appointment must be arranged in advance by contacting Customer Service.
· Customer nominated or owned trucks should allow 2 hours in the facility for loading single compartment loads. 4 hours should be allotted for multiple product loads or for multiple compartment trucks. Sunoco will not pay demurrage to any carrier unless the stated free time is exceeded due to a Sunoco issue.
· To assure product integrity, bulk delivery equipment which includes trucks, railcars and other transport containers must be clean, liquid-free and non-explosive as they arrive for product pick up. The trucks must arrive in such a state to assure products can be loaded safely and that the product quality can be maintained throughout the delivery process. Operations personnel at the facilities will make a visual inspection of the truck and, at their sole discretion, may recommend that further preparation is required to meet Sunoco’s loading requirements. Waivers will be required for any exceptions. Sunoco is not responsible for the cleaning of any customer nominated or customer owned truck or rail car.
· Regardless of the seller’s inspection, the Customer is responsible for product quality after loading. Claims or allowances will not be accepted after product has been loaded into equipment owned, nominated or furnished by the Customer.
· When loading at any of Seller’s facilities, drivers must provide the following Personal Protective Equipment:
Class B hard hat
Industrial grade safety glasses with sideshields
Long sleeved shirt
Long pants
